Grey Street / Dean Street / Pilgrim Street
Running from the world-famous Greyβs Monument, to the glorious Quayside, lies the classy and chic Grey Street to Dean Street stretch; brimming with side-to-side bars and restaurants. Overlooking Greyβs Monument, the trendy boutique bar, The Botanist, is in a class of its own. With exotic, botanical themed drinks and food, and even a huge tree in the centre of the bar β this one lives up to the massive hype. Nestled within a fancy corner building at the very beginning of Grey Street lies The Vinyard; with a Latino wine/cocktail terrace vibe and great happy hour offers, itβs certain to get you in the party mood.
Another perfect place to start a classy night in the Toon, is the notoriously sumptuous, high-end gastro-bar Barluga, located centrally on Grey Street. Itβs elegant, tasteful, and serves a delicious range of food to boot. Running parallel to this area, is Pilgrim Street β a must visit if youβre partial to a cocktail or two. Amidst a wide range of higgledy piggledy bars, youβll find the unconventional cocktail bar, Alvino's β featuring an Argos catalogue themed cocktail menu, and an arty, heated outdoor terrace. One of the small side streets linking Grey Street and Pilgrim Street houses Lola Jeans β just a stoneβs throw from the glorious Theatre Royal, the two level venue has great food and even greater cocktails.
The Diamond Strip
The Diamond Strip is Newcastleβs cool, chic and exclusive place to party β attracting a VIP crowd from across the city. The area has also been thrown into the spotlight of late by the infamous Geordie Shore gang. Whilst this area isnβt exclusively student-free, it does attract an older, more affluent crowd β so, make sure to don your finest LBDs, ladies.
We'd highly recommend snapping up our Newcastle Nightlife Wristbands because it'll get you into 10+ bars/clubs, including some great bars on The Diamond Strip, as well as The Bigg Market.
Just minutes from Newcastleβs Central Station, the main Diamond Strip lies on Collingwood Street and extends to a couple of bars on Mosley Street. The continuous flow of neighbouring bars and clubs on Collingwood Street are a bar crawl just waiting to be explored - each united by their bohemian-luxe interiors and sultry, seductive atmospheres, this area is a hen do paradise. With Revolution, Howlers, Verano, ChachaBuchi and Bohemia all adjoined, thereβs no chance youβll get lost here. And, venturing slightly further along, youβve also got Tup Tup Palace and Green House Disco Gardens to choose from. Whey aye.

The Quayside
This gorgeous area of Newcastle and Gateshead lines the banks of the picturesque River Tyne β which has become the cityβs epicentre for modern arts, music and culture. However, at night it comes to life with upmarket and trendy bars set against the glittering riverfront and combines its party atmosphere with stunning views. The Pitcher and Piano is by far the most popular venue here, for both its stylish glass-walled building and its proximity to the spectacular Millennium Bridge - illuminated at night by changing coloured lights.
The Bridge Tavern is a new, ultra-cool venue with exposed brickwork and an onsite two hectolitre micro-brewery - it takes itself a bit seriously, but in a good way. Nestled under Newcastleβs most iconic Tyne Bridge, it prides itself on quality, swanky drinks and a laid back party atmosphere. Thereβs even a gorgeous, heated terrace where you can indulge in a luxurious cocktail, whilst taking in that fresh North East air.

The Bigg Market
The Bigg Market has a little bit of a name for itself, but donβt be put off by its rowdy rep β itβs a seriously cool place to party. If youβre after suave and sophistication by the bucket-load, itβs probably not going to cut the mustard β but for a cheap and cheerful Newcastle hot spot that doesnβt take itself too seriously, The Bigg Market will not disappoint. Cosy Joes is an unrivalled haunt for hen parties, and welcomes (nay, embraces) fancy dress. They have a karaoke bar upstairs, play all the cheesy classics from across the decades, and even have βparty-podsβ that you can book for your group with a push-button drinks service.
Filthyβs is a relatively new, quirky live music venue in the heart of Bigg Market, with a fantastic drinks terrace to spill out onto. And, directly opposite is a traditional German pub, Bier Keller - where you can channel your inner Fraulein and grab yourself a beer stein or a Haus Stein Cocktail. Mushroom Bar just around the corner is popular if youβre on a drinking mission - itβs almost impossible to not have a hilarious evening in Mushroom Bar β especially as the trebles are cheap as chips.
The Gate
The Gate complex is known as a βproperβ drinking venue. Itβs a plethora of trendy restaurants, drinking venues and even a cinema and a casino, all under one roof β a haven for big groups, including stag and hen parties. Thereβs the classic Lloyds No. 1 Keel Row β part of the Whetherspoons chain β which is renowned for its super-cheap drinks and rowdy atmosphere.
Youβve also got the vast Aspers casino β open 24 hours a day, and boasting three gaming floors, a 200-seat poker room and a 30-screen sports bar β itβs a great place to spend an evening if youβre feeling lucky. Stepping just outside of The Gate (or through the handy undercover bridge), youβll come to neighbouring party bars such as the brilliant Mayfair where you can party βtil the early hours.
Osborne Road, Jesmond
To the north of Newcastle lies Jesmond, a fashionable, leafy suburb inhabited by a majority of young professionals and affluent students. Being just a short taxi/bus/metro/walk from central Newcastle β the nightlife is certainly worth checking out. Osborne Road is the main nightlife hub with many bars and restaurants lining the decadent street.
The Jam Jar is a rustic, charming and relaxed bar-come-restaurant with super daily deals. For example, on Mondays you have the chance to roll the dice for cheaper drinks. Soho is more of a classy haunt with exposed brickwork and vintage interiors, as well as a gorgeous, tree outside, illuminated by pretty fairy lights. Sohe (different to Soho) is an Asian restaurant and bar does seriously cool cocktails that are both aesthetically pleasing and delicious.
