The trip started as all good stag and hen weekends should… with pints at the airport. The flight from wor Geordie homeland takes around two hours and 15 minutes – plenty of time for several beers each. After attempting to sleep before the trip on the plane, we landed late afternoon and headed straight into a waiting Cadillac. This limo screamed decadence, even more so with the bottles of Czech wine to sup. On top of that (literally), we even had a stripper to welcome us to the delights of Prague…
After the unforgettable drive to Prague’s centre (even more so when you are with your colleagues…), we had a delicious and traditional Czech meal to prepare us for the first night. Luckily, it did and we experienced the city’s nightlife on a full stomach. By nightlife, we mean one of the most luxurious strip clubs in the New Town, where our Sales Director got ‘stitched up’. This prank involved whipping with a belt and riding him around the stage like a horse; standard day at the office.
Our Saturday in Prague started as fast-paced as the previous day (but with less whipping), at one of the greatest shooting ranges in the city. We shot rounds on an M16, revolver .357 magnum and even a pump action shotgun. There’s no rest for the wicked on a recce (read: research) trip and, afterwards, we jumped straight into white water rafting. The rafting activity is set outside of the centre and is so famous, it hosted the 2016 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup. Although, that meant nothing to us as we were told to jump into the water and swim to the shore (river bank)…
It took a couple of hours to dry off, but when we had, the second Cadillac limo was a welcome sight. This car took us to the door of the swanky restaurant (we don’t do things by halves) for a traditional Czech meal, before another limo drove us to One Club. This place is one of the best bars in the city and we sampled (for you lot, of course) the private lounge, VIP bar and drinks. We even had our very own waitress.
Sunday began a little slower than we originally thought. Not one of us could lift our heads before 10am… However, once we had surfaced, our chilled private city tour was an epic cure for our hangovers. We also toured our accommodation options in the city, as we had to work at some point. Luckily, that didn’t last long and we were picked up for an authentic two course meal and a round of beers.
We started to flag on our fourth day (we’re not as young as we used to be) and had the morning off to shop, spend our kitty and, more importantly, sleep. Then, it was time to go home and piece together our ‘research’ before work the next day…
