As all good recces should start, we were picked up from the airport in a swanky limo. The drive was pure luxury, with the addition of bubbly and a bar to keep us entertained… After 30 minutes, we arrived at our accommodation, dropped our luggage off and said a sad farewell to the limo (the bar). Once we had settled in, we had the chance to explore the city and get our bearings – just in time for a night out.
Prague’s nightlife is as loud and lively as you’d expect and, a few of us (not mentioning any names…), had a little too much to drink. Thankfully, we had a traditional Czech meal booked in before the clubs. There’s nothing like roast pork and bread dumplings to prepare you for a night in the New Town.
The next day, we were up bright and early (unwillingly) to experience one of our most popular activities: white water rafting. White water rafting in Prague is unlike any other activity; we had to jump into the (freezing) water and demonstrate our swimming abilities before we had started. On a hangover, that task is a little harder in practice, than on paper… However, we passed the test with flying colours and were taken to the brilliant course, spanning 410 metres and with a 3.6 metre drop to boot. It was intense and fast-paced, but we left the centre proud – and with full stomachs (and a headache) after lunch.
There’s no time for rest on our extensive research trips and we headed straight to the next activity: shooting. Our Prague shooting packages are some of the best we offer, and we had the opportunity to handle weapons that, in hindsight, some of us probably shouldn’t have… The weaponry included a .357 magnum, 9mm pistol, pump action shotgun, sniper rifle and, of course, the one and only AK47. Our activities just about prepared us for what was in store at night; massive meal and even bigger night out in Prague’s Old Town. We make it our priority to absorb the local culture.
The third day began as you can imagine; sleeping through breakfast. Go karting was the main activity on the agenda and the karting centre in Prague features Europe’s largest indoor circuit. We had 32 bends to navigate and we all managed serious speeds, apart from one who crashed into the tyres on the first lap and stayed there until the end… After the karting, we deserved a few Pilsners and got a taxi to the legendary U Fleku brewery. U Fleku is the most famous brewery in the Czech Republic, dating all the way back to 1499. The outside is just as impressive as the interior, boasting a huge beer garden and waiters that hand out trays of shots. It was only after we took a tray that we realised they weren’t complimentary… This pit-stop led onto our final and biggest night, ending in the only way possible, at one of the city’s finest strip clubs.
