Lace Market

BUILD YOUR nottingham STAG

Once the heart of the lace industry, now an unmissable Nottingham nightlife area.

Boasting a rich history, The Lace Market used to be a huge manufacturer of lace (the clue’s in the name!). Now, it’s a unique and creative neighbourhood that’s packed with quirky businesses. Plus, it’s just brimming with an eclectic range of bars and pubs to explore, making it a great contender for a bar crawl.

Let's get started.

1. The Lacehouse

Where is better to start our bar crawl in The Lace Market than The Lacehouse? Set within a former lace factory, with exposed brickwork, this epic venue has three independent bars split over two floors. So, you could grab three drinks here, a drink in each of the different bars. The Lacehouse serves a whopping one hundred rums and experimental cocktails. There’s also ping-pong and a dancefloor. They also have a pop-up pizza kitchen, with pizza that was voted Nottingham’s number one pizza for three years in a row.

Now for a bit of a different vibe. This classy chain wine bar is known for its incredibly well-stocked bar and stylish setting. Stags and hens are very welcome here. So, take a seat and peruse their brilliant drinks menu that has an incredible number of cocktails to choose from. Even better they have a happy hour with a deal on cocktails all day from Friday to Sunday. With it being a wine bar, you can also get wine from all over the world.

At this point in the bar crawl you’re probably a bit tipsy, which makes it the perfect time for…. fair games! The perfect place to eat, drink and play, Penny Lane brings you all the fun of the fair. You can enjoy its amusement-style games such as penny falls, grabber machines, basketball, air hockey and table football. They’ve even got their very own Donkey Derby! The drinks are fun and colourful too with cocktails such as The Iron Bru One, Calippo and Cheekier Vimto. Be prepared for a nostalgia overload.

This dark and atmospheric pub is where Dracula would visit if he liked pubs (probably). With super cool gothic-décor, you can expect to see random gargoyle faces, chains hanging from the ceiling, spooky chandeliers, and high-backed gothic chairs. If you go downstairs there’s even more cool gothic stuff you can look at. You can also get unique cocktails here that each have names to compliment the theme and gothic-themed DJ events. Trust us, this is the perfect place to ‘swing’ by.

And now you’re totally smashed, so you want somewhere to dance till the early hours. Well, this brilliant rock ‘n’ roll party bar, that’s open till 5am on the weekend, will not disappoint. Playing the very best guitar music from the last four decades you can expect to hear the likes of The White Stripes, The Smiths, The Specials, Blur and Pulp (basically all the good stuff). They do pretty damn good cocktails too.
